Prompts
How prompts are generated, how to edit them, and how to choose good ones.
## How Prompts Work
When a new topic is created, Traqer will automatically create the following prompts:
- **The exact topic itself** - This is because an important LLM is Google’s AI Overview, where many users still type in shorter traditional SEO-style keywords.
- **Four natural sounding questions related to that topic** - These are meant to cover the topic from multiple angles.
### Adding, Removing, or Editing Prompts
The topics automatically generated by Traqer are always indicated as such with the generative AI stars icon.

While Traqer has been taught to generate realistic, product-centric prompts for each topic, we still recommend you carefully look at each prompt and edit or remove ones that aren’t as relevant and add new prompts that you think are closer to how your users might ask about that topic.
You can see the edit or delete buttons by hovering over a prompt, and you can add a new prompt with the Add Prompt link under each topic:

### How to Choose Good Prompts To Add
The prompts under each topic matter. They are what dictate your topic level visibility which ultimately dictates your brand level visibility. So if your prompts aren’t relevant to your business or not realistically something your customers are likely to search for in AI tools, you won’t be tracking the right things.
We highly recommend only tracking product-centric prompts: queries users may enter into LLMs to get help choosing or finding a product or service like yours.
That’s because informational questions are often answered by LLMs without mentioning a single brand or sometimes even without citing a single source (in the case of ChatGPT).
To decide _which_ product-centric prompts to track, we suggest brands focus on the features, use cases and benefits where they are strong. For example, if your software is cheaper, add a prompt or two that mentions low cost.
Start with prompts where you feel you have a competitive advantage or ones where “we absolutely should show up if someone is asking about this” and work your way up to more general questions from there.
## Setting Up Your First Topics
When setting up a new brand Traqer will suggest topics it thinks are relevant to your business. Topics or prompts suggested by Traqer are always indicated by the AI stars icon.

You can remove any you don’t need or add your own topics you want to track.
We recommend thinking of topics similarly to traditional SEO keywords. However a key difference in AI search is that LLMs aren’t likely to mention brands for top of funnel, informational topics. So we suggest starting with bottom of the funnel, product-centric topics.
For example an accounting software brand is better off tracking “best accounting software” as a topic rather than “cash flow statements”. For the latter, ChatGPT and other LLMs are likely to explain how cash flow statements work and not mention any software companies (or often even cite their content).
